Cookie Policy

Purpose

SafestApps uses cookies and related technologies to operate the website, maintain security, remember preferences, understand website performance and, where enabled, support advertising or other commercial functions. This policy describes the main types of technologies that may be used, their purposes and the choices available to visitors.

The cookie banner, Cookie Settings controls and current cookie inventory are intended to reflect the technologies actually active on the website. SafestApps does not rely on a generic cookie statement to obscure scripts, services, providers or purposes that have not been properly disclosed.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files or pieces of information that a website can place on, or retrieve from, a visitor’s browser or device. Similar technologies can include local or session storage, tracking pixels, tags, software development kits, device identifiers, embedded scripts, link parameters, cache-based methods and other mechanisms that store or access information.

Unless a distinction is important, this policy uses the term cookies to refer broadly to these technologies.

First-Party and Third-Party Technologies

First-party cookies are generally created or managed through the SafestApps website or its domain. Third-party technologies may be supplied by services used for analytics, video, social-media content, advertising, security, affiliate measurement, consent management, email, fonts, content delivery or embedded features.

Third-party providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices. SafestApps seeks to limit third-party technology to services with a defined purpose and considers their data practices, retention periods, security arrangements and international processing where relevant.

Session and Persistent Cookies

Session cookies are generally removed when a browser session ends, while persistent cookies remain for a specified period or until a visitor deletes them. SafestApps considers the intended purpose when determining whether a cookie needs to persist and does not intentionally retain optional identifiers longer than reasonably necessary.

The current cookie inventory provides the applicable duration, expiry period or an understandable duration category for active technologies where practicable.

Necessary Technologies

Necessary cookies and similar technologies may be required for functions such as website security, abuse prevention, administrator access, load distribution, network operations, forms, consent preferences, accessibility settings, content delivery and maintaining a user session.

Where permitted by applicable law, these technologies may operate without separate optional consent because the website requires them for essential functions. They are not treated as a general authorization for advertising, unnecessary analytics or behavioral profiling. SafestApps provides information about necessary technologies so visitors can understand why they operate.

Preference Technologies

Preference technologies can allow SafestApps to remember choices such as language, display configuration, regional settings, accessibility options, video behavior or other interface preferences.

Where applicable law requires consent, optional preference technologies remain inactive until the visitor enables them. A technology is not classified as necessary simply because remembering a setting makes the website easier or more convenient to operate.

Analytics

Analytics technologies may provide aggregated information about how SafestApps is used, including page views, referral sources, device types, website performance, technical errors, general geographic areas, article interaction, navigation and other audience patterns.

SafestApps aims to use measurement that is proportionate to the purpose and avoids unnecessary collection of identifiable information. Where consent is legally required, optional analytics technologies are not activated before the visitor makes the relevant choice.

Analytics information is interpreted as an indication of overall website activity and is not assumed to establish an individual visitor’s identity, intentions or interests with certainty.

Advertising Technologies

Advertising-related technologies may be used to deliver advertisements, manage frequency, identify fraudulent activity, measure campaigns, attribute affiliate activity, report conversions or support personalization where lawfully permitted.

Where consent is required, optional advertising and personalization technologies remain disabled until an appropriate choice has been made. SafestApps does not classify an advertising technology as necessary merely because advertising contributes to the operation or funding of the website.

Advertising-related processing is kept separate from SafestApps’ editorial purpose, and sensitive behavioral profiling is not presented as an editorial requirement.

Contextual Advertising

Contextual advertising can select advertisements based primarily on the subject matter or general context of a page rather than an individual’s previous browsing behavior. Such advertising can still involve technical processes for delivery, frequency management, security or limited measurement.

SafestApps considers how the actual advertising system operates rather than assuming that every contextual advertising service is automatically free from privacy implications.

Affiliate Technologies

Affiliate technologies may help determine whether a visitor arrived through an affiliate link and subsequently completed an eligible action, such as a purchase, registration or subscription.

Where applicable, the affiliate relationship is disclosed on the relevant SafestApps page. The cookie inventory identifies the relevant provider, purpose and duration where that information is available and verified. SafestApps does not intentionally use undisclosed affiliate tracking for purposes unrelated to the disclosed referral relationship.

Embedded Content

Third-party video, audio, social-media posts, maps, documents, forms and other embedded features may use cookies or transmit information when loaded or activated.

Where consent is required, SafestApps may prevent optional third-party content from loading until the visitor makes a choice. Depending on the feature, the website may display a placeholder, identify the provider, allow activation by the visitor or provide a text-based or direct-link alternative where practical.

Once external content is activated, the third-party provider may process information according to its own privacy policy and terms.

Security Technologies

Security-related technologies may be used to identify suspicious activity, malicious requests, automated abuse, spam, credential attacks, denial-of-service attempts, unusual login behavior, invalid submissions and other threats affecting the website.

Security records and identifiers are used proportionately for protection and investigation. A security justification is not used as a general-purpose mechanism for advertising, marketing or unrelated behavioral profiling.

Consent Standard

Where consent is legally required, SafestApps seeks consent through a process that is voluntary, informed, specific and based on a clear affirmative action. Optional purposes are presented separately where necessary, and categories are not enabled in advance simply to increase acceptance.

Visitors should be able to withdraw consent as easily as they provided it. Silence, inactivity or simply continuing to browse is not treated as consent to optional technologies where affirmative consent is required.

The consent interface is designed so that accepting optional technologies is not deliberately made easier through confusing wording, visual pressure, repeated prompts or unequal controls.

Cookie Banner

The cookie banner explains that cookies or similar technologies may be used, identifies the principal optional categories and purposes, indicates relevant third-party involvement and provides accessible options to accept, reject or customize the available choices.

Accepting optional technologies is not intentionally presented as the only obvious route. Necessary technologies are explained separately so visitors can distinguish essential website functions from optional analytics, advertising or personalization.

Cookie Settings

SafestApps provides access to Cookie Settings, normally through a persistent website link such as the footer. Visitors can use the settings interface to review available categories, see their current selections, change optional choices, withdraw consent and, where available, review provider or purpose information.

Changing a cookie preference should not require visitors to create an unnecessary account or contact SafestApps directly when the available settings interface can perform the request.

No Preselected Optional Categories

Optional cookie categories are not enabled through preselected boxes, switches or equivalent controls. Necessary technologies may appear permanently active only where they genuinely fall within an applicable essential-use category and are clearly described.

Different purposes are not combined in a way that prevents visitors from making a meaningful decision about optional processing.

Withdrawal

Visitors can change or withdraw their optional-cookie choices through Cookie Settings. Once a choice is withdrawn, SafestApps takes reasonable steps to prevent affected optional technologies from being used for future processing.

Withdrawal does not automatically undo processing that occurred lawfully before the withdrawal. Visitors may also use browser privacy controls or other rights available under the Privacy Policy for additional requests.

Consent Records

SafestApps or its consent-management provider may maintain a limited record showing the visitor’s selected choices, relevant categories, date and time, applicable banner or policy version, regional configuration, technical identifier and subsequent withdrawal where necessary.

Such records are maintained to demonstrate and respect the visitor’s preferences and are limited to information reasonably required for that purpose.

Access to Public Content

SafestApps does not generally make ordinary access to publicly available editorial content dependent on accepting optional analytics or advertising cookies. Essential security, delivery and functionality technologies may continue to operate where required.

If SafestApps introduces a materially different access model involving optional technologies, the arrangement will be reviewed for legal, privacy, transparency and fairness considerations before implementation.

Browser Controls and Privacy Signals

Modern browsers generally provide controls that allow visitors to inspect, remove or block cookies, restrict third-party cookies, clear website data and limit certain tracking technologies.

Blocking essential cookies can affect security, forms, saved preferences or other website features. Browser controls do not replace SafestApps’ obligations to obtain consent where consent is legally required.

SafestApps considers available privacy signals from browsers and devices when configuring its website technologies. Where a recognized signal is supported, the relevant behavior is described accurately through Cookie Settings or the applicable notice. SafestApps does not claim to honor a privacy signal unless the website has a functioning implementation for it.

Cookie Inventory

The Cookie Settings interface or related inventory identifies active technologies where practicable, including their name, provider, first- or third-party status, category, purpose, information involved, expected duration, destination and consent requirements.

SafestApps seeks to maintain the inventory against the actual website configuration rather than relying on a copied or generic cookie list. Technologies associated with the content-management system, website theme, plugins, analytics, advertising, consent management, fonts, video, social features, security, forms, newsletters, affiliate links, content delivery and other third-party services are reviewed where relevant.

Provider names, cookie names and technical details are not intentionally stated as verified facts when they have not been confirmed.

Retention and International Processing

Cookie lifetimes are selected according to the purpose for which the technology is used. SafestApps reviews whether a session-based approach is sufficient, whether a persistent identifier lasts longer than necessary, whether withdrawal disables the relevant technology and whether a provider retains related information beyond the lifetime of the browser cookie.

A cookie expiring does not necessarily mean that all associated server-side information is immediately deleted. Broader retention practices are addressed through the Privacy Policy and applicable provider arrangements.

Third-party services may process information across international borders. SafestApps considers relevant transfer, contractual and security requirements when selecting and configuring such services.

Children

SafestApps does not knowingly use optional behavioral advertising technologies for the purpose of profiling children. Where website features, advertising systems or other services may reasonably involve children, additional consideration is given to age, consent, profiling, personalization, third-party technologies, data minimization, retention and potentially manipulative design.

Changes and Audit

Before introducing or materially changing a cookie or similar technology, SafestApps considers its purpose, classification, provider, information collected, duration, consent requirements, security implications, international processing, accessibility, contractual arrangements, disclosure requirements and effect on existing visitor choices.

A plugin, theme, analytics tool or other service is not treated as automatically approved merely because it enables a technology by default.

SafestApps reviews its cookie configuration following significant website or extension changes, introduction of analytics or advertising services, new embedded content, consent-platform changes, privacy complaints, relevant regulatory developments and periodic internal reviews. The cookie banner, Cookie Settings, public policy and inventory are intended to remain consistent with the technologies actually operating on the website.
