Guest Posting and Contributor Guidelines

Write for SafestApps

SafestApps welcomes carefully selected contributions from independent writers, cybersecurity professionals, privacy researchers, technology specialists, developers, students, creators, analysts and knowledgeable practitioners who can provide original research, practical insight or a well-supported perspective. Our contributor programme is designed to bring together different areas of expertise and experience around safer technology, applications, privacy and digital security. It is not intended to operate as a paid-link marketplace, automated content network, reputation-management service or alternative advertising channel.

All submissions are reviewed according to SafestApps’ editorial standards, author requirements, ethics principles, fact-checking practices, sourcing requirements, conflict-of-interest rules and other applicable editorial policies.

Editorial Subjects

SafestApps is interested in work covering mobile and web app safety, cybersecurity, online privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence, software security, identity protection, scams and fraud, digital threats, secure communication, parental and family safety, consumer technology, digital well-being, privacy rights, online behavior, security tools, emerging technologies and other topics that help readers better understand or navigate the digital world.

A useful proposal should go beyond naming a popular subject. It should explain the question being investigated, the main point the article will establish, the evidence available and why the topic is appropriate for SafestApps readers.

Suitable Formats

SafestApps considers timely News Analysis that explains a verified development and its practical implications; Explainers that make an app, technology, security issue, privacy practice, law or controversy easier to understand; Reported Essays that combine original reporting, interviews or observation with analysis; and Evidence-Based Opinion that presents a clearly stated position supported by verifiable information. We also consider Interviews with qualified or directly knowledgeable sources, Case Studies examining a particular application, organization, incident or technology while acknowledging relevant limitations, Technical Analysis covering software, security, privacy, data or platform developments, and Reviews based on transparent criteria with relevant commercial or access relationships disclosed.

Pitch First

Unless SafestApps specifically asks for a finished article, contributors should first submit a focused pitch to contributors@safestapps.com. The pitch should include the proposed headline, format, central question or argument, reason the subject is timely, what the contributor will add that is not already widely available, expected evidence or sources, relevant geographic or legal jurisdiction, approximate word count, anticipated delivery date, relevant author experience, previous or simultaneous publication, potential conflicts, commercial relationships, significant use of AI or automated tools and any proposed visual material.

The essential information should appear in the email itself rather than being provided only through an unexplained attachment. Sending a pitch does not mean that SafestApps has agreed to commission, review or publish the proposed article.

Editorial Fit

Proposals are more suitable when they have a clear connection to SafestApps, answer a defined reader question, contain genuinely useful information, rely on dependable evidence, avoid recycled talking points, acknowledge limitations and uncertainty, and offer meaningful expertise or original reporting.

Submissions are less suitable when their primary purpose is keyword targeting, promotion of a person or company, generic commentary about technology, unsupported predictions, product sales, reputation management, link acquisition or publication of AI-generated material without meaningful human research and reporting.

Material SafestApps Does Not Accept

SafestApps does not publish plagiarism, invented reporting, misleading author identities, undisclosed ghostwritten work, mass-produced AI content, spun or lightly rewritten articles, copied listicles, keyword-stuffed pages, concealed advertising, paid editorial links, reputation-cleaning campaigns, undisclosed client assignments, fabricated testimonials or experts, misleading security claims, deceptive financial promotions, unlawful or dangerous material, non-consensual intimate content, harmful technical instructions, impersonation, organized harassment or material created primarily to manipulate search rankings.

Content may also be declined where it is technically lawful but falls outside SafestApps’ purpose, editorial standards, available expertise or publishing capacity.

Identity and Biography

Contributors should provide their real name, preferred byline, current professional role, relevant background, contact information, significant affiliations and an accurate short biography. SafestApps may request reasonable verification where a submission involves serious accusations, sensitive identities, professional credentials, claims of institutional authority, legal exposure, security-sensitive information, payment or significant conflicts of interest. Identification documents should only be supplied when specifically requested through an appropriate channel.

Contributors must not imply that they speak on behalf of an organization without permission. A pseudonym may be considered where publication under the contributor’s real identity would create a credible safety concern, but anonymity cannot be used to conceal sponsorship, client relationships, plagiarism or normal professional accountability.

Originality and Publication History

Submissions should be original unless SafestApps has agreed to publish a republication, adaptation, translation or syndicated version. Contributors must disclose if the material has appeared elsewhere, was previously published in another language, is based on a report, thesis or research project, was commissioned by another party, overlaps with another submission, is being reviewed by another publication or incorporates previously published material.

SafestApps may compare submissions against existing material, review sources manually and use originality-checking tools. Automated similarity results are considered alongside editorial judgment rather than treated as conclusive on their own.

Evidence and Sources

Important factual statements should be supported by credible evidence. Contributors should provide direct source links, documents, records, recordings or other supporting material where available. Articles involving substantial research may be expected to include a Sources and Methodology section explaining the principal evidence, research approach, interviews, calculations, datasets, testing methods, jurisdiction, limitations, requests for comment and areas of uncertainty.

Sources should substantiate the particular statement being made. Linking only to a general website is insufficient when a specific report, study, official document or primary source is available. Multiple websites repeating identical information do not necessarily constitute separate confirmation.

Interviews and Quotations

Contributors are responsible for maintaining accurate interview notes or recordings where legally and practically appropriate. Quotations must reflect what the source actually said. Contributors should disclose whether an interview was recorded, translated, conducted in writing, edited for length, compressed for clarity, provided with limited factual review or subject to an anonymity request. Material-source anonymity requires editorial approval.

Right of Reply

Articles containing serious criticism, allegations or potentially damaging claims should allow the affected person, company or organization a reasonable opportunity to respond. Contributors may be asked to provide the specific claims being made, supporting evidence, appropriate contact information, the time allowed for response, relevant source-protection considerations and records of previous communication.

A response may lead to additional reporting, clarification or changes to the article. Lack of a response does not automatically prevent publication, but reasonable efforts to obtain one should be documented where appropriate.

Conflicts and Commercial Relationships

Contributors must disclose material connections to the person, company, developer, founder, institution, product, service, competitor, employer, client, investor, advocacy organization, litigation party or other subject discussed in the article. This includes relevant payments, expected compensation, gifts, travel, accommodation, product access, affiliate arrangements, sponsorships, consulting work, employment, ownership interests, tokens, legal disputes, early access, agency relationships and other potential benefits.

Disclosure alone does not guarantee publication. Depending on the circumstances, SafestApps may require a disclosure statement, independent review, a different format, reassignment to another contributor or rejection of the submission.

Commercial Submissions

Sponsored, paid, partner-funded, client-funded, affiliate-focused and reputation-management material should not be submitted through the standard guest-contributor process. Commercial enquiries should be sent to advertising@safestapps.com. Commercial proposals should identify the commissioning company, agency, ultimate client, intended message, proposed content format, payment arrangement, preferred publication date, requested links, approval process, production responsibilities and required disclosures.

Acceptance of a commercial arrangement does not create a promise of independent editorial coverage or a particular editorial conclusion.

Backlinks and Link Placement

SafestApps does not offer undisclosed editorial links for sale. Contributors may recommend links that genuinely support the article, but the editorial team determines which links are appropriate. SafestApps may remove or replace a link, modify its anchor text, add an appropriate commercial attribute, remove tracking parameters, reject redirects, restrict unsafe destinations or remove an article if a commercial link relationship was intentionally concealed.

Requirements for particular link attributes, commercially motivated anchor text, unrelated promotional links, hidden affiliate links, misleading destinations, undisclosed agency placements, post-publication destination substitutions or publication purchased primarily for search-engine manipulation are not permitted.

Artificial Intelligence

Significant use of AI or automated systems must be disclosed. Contributors should indicate whether such tools were used for research assistance, outlining, drafting, rewriting, translation, transcription, programming, data processing, image generation, image editing, audio or video production, source discovery or citation preparation. Any AI-assisted factual claims, citations or quotations must be independently verified.

SafestApps does not accept invented AI identities, unchecked machine-generated reporting, synthetic interviews, fabricated examples or case studies, bulk generic AI articles, undisclosed synthetic media or submissions where the named author cannot explain the research, evidence and methods behind the work.

Images and Rights

Contributors should not submit images simply copied from search results or other websites. For each supplied image or multimedia item, contributors should provide the creator, original source, applicable rights or license, required attribution, people shown, date, location, edits made, whether synthetic tools were used, caption information, alternative-text details and relevant restrictions.

SafestApps may choose another image, create or license its own visual material or publish the article without an image. Having access to an image file does not establish permission to reproduce it.

Length and Style

Article length should reflect the subject and reporting required. Short analysis may generally fall around 700 to 1,000 words, standard explainers and analysis around 1,000 to 1,800 words, reported essays around 1,500 to 2,500 words, and investigations may be longer when the available evidence warrants additional space. These ranges are editorial guidance rather than fixed requirements. Contributors should not add repetition simply to meet a word target.

SafestApps values writing that is clear, practical, accurate, evidence-based, original and accessible to an international audience. Articles should distinguish verified facts from interpretation, explain uncertainty where relevant and avoid unnecessary promotion. Unsupported superlatives, filler introductions, repetitive conclusions, manufactured urgency, generic motivational language, excessive technical terminology, unexplained abbreviations, marketing slogans presented as evidence, dehumanizing language and unjustified certainty should be avoided.

Editorial Process

A submission may move through pitch assessment, identity and conflict checks, commissioning, research or drafting, evidence review, structural editing, fact-checking, right-of-reply procedures, specialist or legal review, copyediting, headline and metadata editing, disclosure review, final page review, publication and post-publication monitoring. The depth and order of these stages may vary depending on the subject, and SafestApps may stop consideration at any stage if the material no longer meets its requirements.

SafestApps may edit headlines, organization, wording, length, factual claims, attribution, sources, links, disclosures, legal language, images, captions, metadata, article classification and author biographies. Where reasonably possible, significant changes affecting the substance of an author’s argument will be discussed with the contributor. Final control over headlines, publication timing, classification and corrections remains with SafestApps.

Payment and Rights

Unsolicited guest submissions should not be assumed to carry payment. A fee applies only when SafestApps provides or accepts a written commissioning agreement that specifies the compensation and relevant conditions. No outside representative or unofficial agent may charge a contributor in exchange for guaranteed independent publication. Sponsored material and commercial services follow the appropriate disclosed commercial process.

Unless another written agreement applies, the contributor retains copyright in the underlying work and grants SafestApps a non-exclusive license to edit, publish, archive, display, distribute, promote, correct, technically adapt, excerpt, include in newsletters and share through its social channels. Any exclusivity, translation, syndication, payment or republication arrangements should be agreed separately where applicable.

Timing and Post-Publication Responsibility

SafestApps cannot promise publication by a requested date. Scheduling may depend on verification, editing, right-of-reply procedures, legal or specialist review, relevance, security considerations, editorial workload, evidence quality and technical preparation. Commercial or promotional deadlines do not take priority over editorial safeguards.

Following publication, contributors should remain reasonably available for questions about sources, facts, quotations, conflicts, rights, corrections, complaints and substantive updates. SafestApps may correct, clarify, update, reclassify, restrict, retract or remove material in accordance with its editorial policies. Contributors should not knowingly reproduce an earlier inaccurate version after a substantive correction has been made.

No Performance Guarantee

Publication does not promise homepage placement, newsletter distribution, social-media promotion, traffic levels, search rankings, indexing, Google News inclusion, syndication, backlink value, commercial results or citation by artificial-intelligence systems. Editorial publication should not be treated as a search-engine or performance-marketing agreement.

Submission Route

Pitches may be sent to contributors@safestapps.com. Commercial proposals may be sent to advertising@safestapps.com. Security-sensitive source material should not be included in a routine pitch and should first be discussed with editorial@safestapps.com.
